| Split Works are over-the-moon to be presenting a special show in April. Sonic Youth will be flying in to play Beijing on the 23th April and Shanghai on the 24th. This groundbreaking band have been showing us how music should be played since the late 70's. They were pioneers of alternative rock and huge influences on the like of Nirvana and Pearl Jam. | The band left today. We're weary but there's an intense feeling of euphoria surrounding what we've achieved. The shows were full houses and we've heard variously:"the best band to play Shanghai, period", "how many times does a band like this play Beijing: once a year, maybe", "the best show in Beijing, EVER". It's testament to the hard work and dedication of the Split team and the vision and backing of our sponsors, especially Bacardi. | We've been negotiating with a number of bands and we are pleased to announce that our first choice. Maximo Park have agreed to be our kickoff band. We love this band and we love their spirit - agreeing to be the first to do a show like this in China. |
